UNITED KINGDOM – London, Embankment Station // Skyfall (2012)
Embankment Station is in the heart of London – as a filming location it might not be that spectacular. But as a hub to get around, it is perfect!
Why Bond was here
In Skyfall, James Bond (Daniel Craig) hunts former MI6-agent Silva (Javier Bardem). He succeeds at first, imprisoning Silva in an MI6 underground facility in London. But the villain escapes from custody into the London underground tunnels. Bond pursuits Silva on the tube, but Silva escapes though a service entrance and emerges at Embankment station. The entrance to Embankment is seen as Silva is being picked up by his henchmen.

How you gonna get there
Embankment is in Londons city centre close to Trafalgar Square and tube hub “Charing Cross Station”. You can reach it with multiple subway lines such as Circle and District (find out more at the London Transport Site).
The filming location is to the southern exit of Embankment at Northumberland Ave in front of the round entry to the Playhouse Theatre. The service entry Silva is coming out off is located at the intersection of Whitehall Place and Northumberland Avenue, at the corner of Corinthia Hotel.
Good to know
Embankment itself is not that spectacular. But the location centers around many famous Bond spots. Whitehall is to the West, where parts of Skyfall and Spectre had been filmed. Up the the north is Trafalgar Square and just one tube ride away is “Covent Garden”, where M (Ralph Fiennes) orders his steak at famous London restaurant “Rules” (which we visited here).
And the movie tries to trick you. Silva is just around M’s public hearing. But that had been filmed at Trinity Square close to Tower Hill – not at all in a running distance to Whitehall and Westminster.
We used Embankment Station as a pin-point for our London stroll. Head over Golden Jubilee Bridge to have a nice view on the Thames and southern Westminster Bridge or walk down Victoria Embankment to get to the Parliament and the famous Big Ben. Which Embankment, you are in the heart of the city.
