The Colors of Westminster

UNITED KINGDOM – London, Westminster & HM Treasury // Skyfall (2012) & Spectre (2015)

James Bond loves to play around Westminster and Whitehall – it is the political center of London. And the touristic one.

Why Bond was here
Westminster is full of James Bond locations – and here are two at a close range. In Skyfall villain Silva (Javier Bardem) escapes the MI6 prison and disguises himself as a police officer. Bond (Daniel Craig) is after him, rushing through the London metro. He goes underground at the Westminster tube station.

The location is just across Her Majesty’s Treasury, a building that was used as a location for the later movie Spectre. When Bond gets called for duty, he meets first with M (Ralph Fiennes) in his office and later with Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) out at a courtyard. This courtyard is not a secret service facility – but the parking lot of the Treasury.

Westminster

Bond runs up north along Parliament Street, the Westminster tube station is to the left.

How you gonna get there
The Westminster station is – who would have guessed – directly at the Westminster station. The bus stop is called “Parliament Square”, though.
The stairs Bond goes down are the ones at the north east corner of Parliament Street and Great George Street. The Treasury is next to it at the western corner.

Good to know
Unfortunately the parking lot is not always open for public. But you can see the big circled area from two sides: Great George Street and King Charles Street. Both offer a good view on the filming location inside.
But that should not discourage you – Whitehall is a true James Bond hotspot. Numerous movies had been filmed at the Old War Office some meters up north and both Skyfall and Spectre have scenes close-by at Westminster Bridge and Trafalgar Square. See our London tag for all related articles.

We came back to Westminster several times – to feel the different vibes of the day. It is crowded with politicians in the morning, with tourists at noon and filled with traffic lights in the evening. If you are lucky, you’ll get a beautiful sunset at the Thames, painting Parliament Street pink.
